Early childhood education and care

It all starts at home, through teaching and learning. Children need to learn that feelings are a natural part of being human, and that our bodies and hormones can influence how we experience emotions every day.

By understanding how their bodies work, children learn healthy ways to rest, play, talk, and express their feelings. Self-care helps them grow into kind and confident individuals.

But caring for ourselves also means learning how to care for others. They can be taught about physical disabilities and other differences among us. They can learn how to ask questions respectfully, include others and extend kindness.

These are a few of the principles that influenced my children's book. Since these lessons start long before children enter the wider world, I wanted to build something that may assist parents and carers in having meaningful talks with kids about self-care, emotions, our bodies, diversity, empathy, and kindness.
