A 30 year old Refilwe Matjila who had been reported missing, was positively identified by her family at the Phokeng mortuary on 17 September 2026. The deceased body was discovered on 8 September 2026 without any identification. 


According to reports surrounding this case, Refilwe was pregnant at the time of her death, and the baby was allegedly removed from her stomach before delivery. The accounts also claim that the body was found with several cuts and injuries, including wounds to the abdominal area.


Police are continuing with investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death, and no suspect has been identified at this stage.

The man was reportedly busy cleaning when the approximately 4.5-metre-long python suddenly attacked him. The snake wrapped itself around the worker, leaving him trapped on the ground.  A colleague who was nearby rushed to his assistance and attempted to free him from the powerful snake.
