Alleged Notorious Criminal Found to Have Access to Confidential SAPS Documents

The already-charged taxi industry figure, Oupa "Bafana" Sindane was found in possession of confidential South African Police Service (SAPS) information. The Madlanga commission managed to obtain Sindane’s phone records lawfully, which Advocate Matthew Chaskalson chief evidence leader is now examining. Among the information allegedly found on Sindane’s phone are internal shooting reports, a report on the murder of a police officer, and a letter from National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola. 

 Chaskalson questioned how Sindane was able to possess a detailed police report relating to the murder of Sergeant Marcus Lekalakala, including all the role players and persons in charge of the case. The evidence raises concerns about whether someone within SAPS may have failed to maintain confidentiality by providing internal police information to individuals outside the service. 

 Advocate Matthew Chaskalson took the commission through the chats between Sibiya and taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni which revealed alleged extortion in the transport and construction industries, how the payments were made to fund two assassins. One of the two assassins was sentenced life imprisonment in January 2025. Sibanyoni expected to appear before commission on Monday to answer some questions about the issues raised in the evidence.

Farm Worker Dies After Being Attacked by 4.5-Metre Rock Python in KwaDukuza

Man attacked by a large python Image:File/SAS News A routine day at work turned into a tragedy in KwaDukuza after a farm worker was attacked by a massive rock python while working on the farm. The man was reportedly busy cleaning when the approximately 4.5-metre-long python suddenly attacked him. The snake wrapped itself around the worker, leaving him trapped on the ground.  A colleague who was nearby rushed to his assistance and attempted to free him from the powerful snake.
